École primaire I.D.S. raises $20,840 for the Quebec Heart and Stroke Foundation
The École primaire Ile-des-Sœurs managed quite a feat, when, thanks to the hard work of the school administration, students and staff, it recently raised $20,840 for the Quebec Heart and Stroke Foundation.
As part of the Sautons en coeur program, a number of grade six students accepted to raise money for research on cardiovascular illnesses. The results of their efforts allowed them to present such an important sum to the foundation.

On May 3, Michel Hohenfeldt and Dominique Maheu, physical education teachers at the school organized a special event, at the school gym, where children jumped rope, played music and had fun, while Yahou, the foundation's mascot, also entertained the kids.

The Sautons en coeur program exists since 1982 and celebrated its 25th anniversary this past February 1. Since its launch, it has raised awareness among children about heart health and the importance of physical activity, proper nutrition and a smoke-free environment. Over the years, the program has initiated close to 1.4 million youngsters to these healthy habits and has raised more than 14 million dollars.
