Come take part in the Recycling Festival
As part of its recycling awareness activities, the Verdun borough is inviting all residents to take part in the Recycling Festival, to be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, at the corner of Galt and Wellington.
Organized by the Recycling Alert Brigade, in cooperation with the Green Patrol, this event is designed to test Verdunites' recycling knowledge, through amusing, interactive games.
It's very easy to take part in this activity. Just go to the borough's big, white, specially-marked tent on the day of the Festival. You will then have a chance to participate in one of the two games—a timed sorting of recyclable and non-recyclable materials or a short questionnaire on recycling. In so doing, you'll have a chance to earn a framed certificate as a highly-skilled recycler (Recycleur émérite), in the drawing to be held on site. An official photo will also be taken for publication in the local media and on the Borough's website.
At this same event, the Recycling Alert Brigade will be operating an information booth on recycling, in order to answer residents' questions in this regard. A number of information tools will be available on site as well. The Brigade was set up in June to encourage Verdunites to recycle more so as to reduce the amount of landfill waste. As it may be recalled, recycling has been compulsory in the Verdun borough since 2004.
