Repercussion Theatre drops by West Vancouver Park
'Les Fourberies de Scapin' by Molière to be performed on August 12
Repercussion Theatre returns to the parks this summer with its very first venture into the hilarious world of Molière. L'Ile-des-Soeurs gets its very own visit on Sunday, August 12, at 7 p.m. at West Vancouver Park.
This year, Repercussion Theatre presents Molière's Scapin:The Schemer in an adapted English version and Les Fourberies de Scapin in an adapted French version. A unique experience in Montreal, this Theatre in the Parks production will present twenty shows in English and nine in French all performed by the same cast. The show performed at West Vancouver Park will be in French.

Amanda Kellock will be directing this year's production for the first time with Repercussion Theatre. Amanda, a veteran of the company, has performed in Midsummer Night's Dream in 2004 and 2005 and in Much Ado About Nothing in 2006. "I am very happy and proud to be working again with Repercussion Theatre, as director this time - and first female director in the company's history," she said.
Forbidden love and the scheming it entails…
This high-energy comedy reveals the schemes necessary for forbidden love to conquer all. What happens when two young men fall desperately in love with women of whom their parents disapprove? Will the old guard stand in the way of true love? Who will thwart the old folks, rescue the young lovers, and bring ridicule and high jinx to a park near you? Why Molière's SCAPIN!
Repercussion Theatre presented its first Shakespeare-in-the-Park festival in the summer of 1988. A dedicated group presented four performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream to 800 people. Only a decade later, the company had quickly grown, playing in front of 45 000 spectators in Canada and the United States.
Want to catch the play in English?
Island residents interested in catching an English performance, should know that the company will be performing at Dorchester Square in downtown Montreal, on Tuesday, August 14, at 7 p.m., at Parc Pierre Laporte in Greenfield Park, on Thursday, August 16, at 7 p.m., at Parc Lafontaine, on Friday, August 17, at 7 p.m. and at Westmount Park, on Saturday, August 18, at 7 p.m.
Repercussion Theatre's mandate is to deliver professional, classically-based, visually dynamic theatre accessible to all, regardless of income, culture, language, age or education. The company brings the performing arts to people in their communities - reaching new audiences and inspiring in them a lifelong love of theatre.
