Neighbourhood tours for new residents a success!
The neighbourhood tours organized by the Verdun borough have once again proven very successful among new residents. A total of some fifty people took part in the tours July 25 and August 4.
These new residents said they were delighted to have discovered Verdun, a high-quality living environment that is nevertheless little known by many Montrealers. The history, recent housing projects, the redevelopment of parks and of several recreational facilities as well as the natural beauty of the St. Lawrence River waterfront and L’Île-des-Sœurs were among the features of these tours. Those who took the tour also had a chance to realize how much the borough benefits from its privileged access to downtown Montréal, via its three metro stations, its bus lines, its magnificent cycling trail and the many main roads that run along its territory.
Marc Touchette, borough councillor for the Champlain-L’Île-des-Sœurs district, also took part in the two tours. He, too, noted the great interest that these guided tours aroused among the new residents, through the nature of the questions they asked and the many positive comments received at the end of each tour.
Council members invite new residents to participate actively in the borough’s democratic life and to fully enjoy the number of services being offered.
