Details of schedules covering construction sites
Construction work in L'Île-des-Sœurs is getting to be bothersome for residents but it is a reality they have to learn to live with, at least for several years more. However, there is a noise regulation with fixed schedules imposed by the borough that construction workers must respect. Failure to abide by these regulations subjects them to fines and violation notices.
From Monday to Friday, construction sites can operate beginning at 7:00 in the morning until 8:00 in the evening. On Saturday, the schedule, as provided for in the regulations for the L'Île-des-Sœurs area, covers work from 9h to 17h. This is different from the rest of Verdun’s schedule where construction sites can commence work from 7h even on Saturday. On weekends and holidays, all construction work is prohibited. This schedule and the relevant restrictions also apply to trucks and other heavy vehicles.
Residents who notice any violation of these rules can file a complaint directly with the Department of Land Protection, the number of which is 514 765-7070 or else at the Verdun Accès Office at 514 765-7000. These departments are open seven days a week.
