Angèle Dubeau and La Pietà
Start of concert season
Angèle Dubeau and La Pietà to be presented at Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs church
The series of concerts to be presented by Verdun borough opens with passion and virtuosity as this season’s themes. On Wednesday, October 17 at 19h30 at the Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs church (4155 Wellington Street), the stage will light up with the talents of violinist Angèle Dubeau and La Pietà group.
This is an incomparable musical treat that is uniquely yours presented by the touring Arts Council and Verdun borough in partnership with the Foundation of the CHSLD Champlain-Manoir. The programme offers the macabre dance of Sant-Saëns, Praeludium & Allegro of Fritz Kreisler, Pelimannit : Fiddlers, op. 1 of Rautavaara. With composers Simon Leclerc, José Evangelista, Linda Bouchard and Serge Arcuri, the audience will listen to two season masterpieces for La Pietà. This number will lead to Ennio Morricone: Lady Caliph & Buona Fortuna Jack, and then to Manuel De Falla with El Amor Brujo and to Brahms and Liszt with the Hungarians. Complementing the programme is a piece by Peter Heidrich: Happy Birthday Variations.
Winning first prize at the Montreal Conservatory of Music, violinist Angèle Dubeau has done numerous concert tours in more than 25 different countries. The public also had the opportunity to taste the talents of this musician, thanks to a significant number of disk recordings. Ten years ago, Angèle Dubeau founded La Pietà, a string ensemble made up of 12 musicians. The group’s success has been remarkable for the last 10 years. In 2004, 83 concerts brought the musicians all over Canada, the United States, China and Japan. The release of the album, “Passion” in 2006 continues to confirm the public’s fascination.
