Transporting of soil :truck route modified
Trucks enter again the site through chemin de la Pointe-Sud.
Transporting of soil :truck route modified
Verdun Borough has implemented new measures to reduce the impact of trucks that ply the roads in the southern tip of L'Île-des-Soeurs. These measures were necessary because the construction project of Le Vistal has started, just across from the building, Verre sur Vert.
Given the start of this project, the truck cleaning station will be re-located; it is presently at the entry point of the construction site. As a result of discussions with the golf course developer and the owner of the truck cleaning station, it was agreed to re-locate the cleaning station from the northern side of the future golf course, near the Adrien D. Archambault Park.
Truck route changed
Since the trucks have to be washed when they leave the site, their route was modified effective Monday, November 27. Trucks will now have to enter the construction sites by taking chemin de la Pointe-sud and should leave via boulevard de la Foret.
"This new route should significantly reduce the movements of trucks on the golf course site, and consequently enable workers to complete as quickly as possible the enhancement required by the Minister of Durable Development, Environment and Parks", said Borough Mayor Claude Trudel. It will be recalled that the Minister had required the addition of clean soil on future golf course site for ecological reasons.
Order of the day: vigilance
The new inverted route should not cause a negative impact on the tranquility and quality of the life of residents along, since the measures implemented during the fall will be maintained, and in certain cases, reinforced. "The surveillance agents of the territory as well as the agents of the City of Montreal Police Service will continue to carry out surveillance in the sites. They have received instructions to be vigilant and not to hesitate to issue violation tickets, if necessary", Mr. Trudel explained.
In parallel, developers should comply with the requirements of the Borough covering construction hours, adequate maintenance of infrastructures and cleanliness of sidewalks and pavements near the sites. Not respecting these conditions could ultimately lead to the closing of construction sites, forcing those responsible to take appropriate steps to comply. As reported in a preceding article, the availability of clean soil is a determining factor in the duration of problems relating to trucks. The greater the availability of the soil, the easier and quicker it can be transported to the golf course. And as soon as this operation is completed, truck traffic will considerably diminish in the Island's streets.
