Interested in becoming a lifeguard?
Your first step is to take the Assistant Water Safety Instructor Course
Teenagers who are interested in eventually becoming lifeguards and working in a variety of municipal and private pools, must make sure to first take the Assistant Water Safety Instructor Course, which will prepare them for the Instructor Course.
A few places are still available in the Red Cross’ Assistant Water Safety Course, offered by the Verdun borough during the winter season. The course will be offered on Sunday evenings, from 6 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at the Mgr Richard school pool. The class is for 15-year-olds and over with a good knowledge of swimming techniques - equivalent to Level 10.
The Assistant Water Safety Instructor Course prepares youngsters for the Instructor course, where they will acquire teaching and leadership skills. This training is therefore of particular interest to those who would eventually like to apply for a lifeguard position at a pool.
Course starts on January 14
The course starts on January 14 and continues for 9 weeks. It’s important to register as soon as possible at the Centre communautaire Marcel-Giroux (4501 Bannantyne), the Elgar Centre (260 Elgar) and the Centre culturel de Verdun (5955 Bannantyne).
