Verdun Dragon Boat Club recruiting for its junior team
Boys and girls between 14 and 17 needed
The Verdun Dragon Boat Club
www.verdundbc.com) has been around for a number of years and has won a number of accolades and medals with its teams. Last year, the club formed a junior team and it was a resounding success. This year, they're looking to repeat their stellar year and add a few more members to their ranks.
Boys and girls who reside in Verdun, between the ages of 14 and 17, are encouraged to join one of the fastest growing sports in North America. The team will train once a week from May to September at the Lachine Canal (corner of St-Patrick and Church streets), in preparation for two tournaments during the summer (one in June and one in September).
Dragonboating is a great way for Verdun's teenagers to remain physically fit throughout the summer, have a goal to train for, socialize with other youngsters their age and compete in two Montreal-based festivals.
Being a member of Verdun's Adrenaline team myself, I also have it on authority that the juniors enjoy a warm welcome from the entire club, immense support and encouragement from the older paddlers and an abundant supply of desserts to "sweeten" the deal.
Those who are interested or need more information, can email the club at: juniors@verdundbc.com or leave a message at 514-761-6989 and a member of the club will contact you.
