The “Masterpiece” will open in 2009
Construction work for the complex “Masterpiece” in the southern tip of L'Île-des-Sœurs started a few weeks ago. This luxury residence for retired and semi-retired individuals should be welcoming residents in the spring of 2009.
The developer’s representative did not say much or provide information since he explained that there are still several issues to be ironed out before announcing them to the public. He did however point out to the Magazine that the building will have about 335 rental units to be spread out on 10 floors, two of which will be in basement level.

Benoît Mallette, Chief of the Urban Division of Verdun Borough, confirmed that the building will be constructed on a land area covering 14,000 square meters, located on the extension of chemin de la Pointe-Sud, along the side of the future golf site. The apartments and various service sections (kitchens, rooms, indoor pool, garage, etc) will take up about 27,000 square meters, to be spread out on 10 floors.

Occupants of the residents will benefit from a complete range of services which will be included in the rental fee. A floor has also been planned for seniors with reduced mobility and who will require particular medical care. Rental rates for the different types of apartments have not been fixed as of press time; the developer’s representative was not in a position to divulge a price range.

The company, Masterpiece Living is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, and its founder is Mr. Tim Garforth-Bles. The company owns a few retirement residences in western Canada and is pursuing expansion plans in Quebec, specifically in the Montreal region. Other than the L'Île-des-Sœurs project, Masterpiece Living is also building another complex in the city of Pointe-Claire, on the Island of Montreal.

As soon as the Magazine obtains further details, the editor will inform readers, but interested parties may obtain additional details about this company by visiting their web site, www.masterpieceliving.ca. The site is in English only, but the web site managers have indicated that a French web site is in the works.
