This isn't just the Island; this is a Treasure Island!
Local Walking Club organizes treasure hunt
Here's an idea that's bound to catch on and become a hit. On Sunday, October 7, the Island Walking Club is organizing a treasure hunt. Participants depart at 1:30 p.m. from the Elgar Community Centre and then… anything goes!
Organizers are keeping the top-secret details under wraps in the interest of fairness and an all-around fun time, but we still managed to obtain some information.
Three one-hour stages
The treasure hunt will be divided into three one-hour stages. The first set of hints will be given at the Elgar Centre around 1:30 p.m., the second stage will require participants to move over to Vancouver Park around 2:30 p.m. to get their hints and the third and final stage will take them to the soccer field's parking lot around 3:30 p.m.
The treasure hunt will be open to individuals and groups alike, making this a great activity for the entire family or a group of friends. At least 15 gift certificates are expected to be found.

Like most good pirates will tell you, a treasure hunt will leave you tired and hungry, so the Island Walking Club has made plans for dinner at Giorgio's (those interested, will have to reserve by emailing sbell@mmic.net or calling 514-766-9616). Organizers Priscille Beaulieu and Serge Bellemare are letting everyone know that the event will be postponed to October 14 in case of rain.

A number of Island and Verdun businesses (among them, Provigo, Le Vin Levain, Chez Cora, Salon M Coiffure, Giorgio's, Restaurant Su, Restaurant Crescendo, La Librairie de Verdun, Quincaillerie Hogg, Véronique Kriegel Soins des pieds and Lise Barbeau Massothérapeute) are sponsoring the event, although in what capacity we're not sure. Perhaps some of these businesses will provide valuable clues for the treasure hunt or they are the suppliers of the aforementioned gift certificates. Take part and find out for yourself!
