Fans of blues and jazz will definitely not want to miss the first “Vendredi Blues” of the season at the Elgar Community Centre in L'Île-des-Sœurs. On Friday, October 19, the public will be able to watch and listen to singer Dawn Tyler Watson and guitarist Paul Deslauriers.
It promises to be a power-packed season, where the public will be offered a chance to watch two artists who have won the hearts of many.
Known as a blues diva, singer Dawn Tyler Watson has won the “Lys Blues” three times. She also won the Maple Blues prize as the best blues singer in Canada, and has won prizes in France. In addition to the festival circuit with the Dawn Tyler Blues Project, people also saw her in the film, Jack Paradise where she portrayed the role of Curly Brown.
Brilliant guitarist Paul Deslauriers is one of the founding members of the group Black Cat Bone. His first CD entitled Ripping Into Red which was released this year, gave listeners a glimpse of his universe of music. He style is evolving into a personal acoustic style - his listeners will notice his precision and dexterity as he performs his solo numbers.
Together on stage, these two artists invite the public to an intimate show and acoustic renditions where a bit of jazz, pop and rock will be featured. One voice, one guitar, beloved songs, as well as original compositions will be brought to you by two passionate musical artists.
Tickets are on sale for $5.00 and are available at the Elgar Community Centre (260 Elgar Street), at the Marcel-Giroux Community Centre (4501 Bannantyne Street) and at the Verdun Cultural Centre (5955 Bannantyne Street).
There will be five shows this year by “Vendredis Blues”, and will be presented in collaboration with Boréale. For the season, apart from Dawn Tyler Watson & Paul Deslauriers (this Friday), the public can also watch and listen to the Rob Lutes, Fortin/Léveillé/Donato/Nasturica, the Jim Zeller Band and the sextet Yves Léveillé.
