Congested streets make snow removal difficult
Snow removal operations did not take place at L'Île-des-Sœurs on the day following the December 16-17 snowstorm because the streets were congested, hence preventing the arrival of the necessary equipment in the island.
The Public Works Department of Verdun Borough however made sure that they would start work at 4 a.m. the next morning, December 19, to clear streets in the island. “We started operations exceptionally early to make up for lost time so we could at least clear one side of the roads before Christmas”, Borough Director Gilles Baril said.
Snow clearing at L'Île-des-Sœurs normally begins later in the morning to ensure that residents are not bothered by the noise.
