Free talk on backyard composting: May 7
Composting—As Easy as Pie!
The Verdun Borough, in cooperation with Nature-Action Québec and Nova Envirocom, is inviting you to a free talk, in French, on backyard composting, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, in the Council room of Borough Hall, 4555, rue de Verdun. During this talk, composters will be on sale, right on site.
Why compost?
There are many advantages of doing your own composting: It makes it possible to produce outstanding natural fertilizer for the soil and to improve the growth of your vegetables, flowers, lawn, trees or shrubs, without it costing you a cent. It reduces the volume of your garbage bag by nearly 40%—a large amount of your organic waste therefore won't wind up in the landfill sites.
It contributes toward reducing environmental problems caused by landfilling waste, such as the production of greenhouse gases and the contamination of the water table, lakes and waterways.
Interested in composting?
You'd like to do some backyard composting but don't know where to start? Well, don't miss the free talk on May 7. This training session (about 90 minutes long) will provide you with all the information you need to make good compost.
