Lac des Battures : no swimming allowed
At the last Council meeting, a representative from APRIDS (Association des propriétaires et résidants de L'Île-des-Sœurs ) expressed concern about clients of the future Nordic spa Storm being allowed to swim in lac des Battures.
Using information published recently in Le Magazine, the APRIDS representative asked if indeed customers of the Nordic spa which is adjacent to the new golf course can make use of a small circular dish to be installed in the lake. The news article quoted Mrs. Anne Joyal, co-owner of the spa, who addressed attendees at the last breakfast meeting of the business club, Rendez-vous d’affaires.

During the June 5 Council meeting, Mayor Trudel seemed surprised by this question, but he did not contradict the information reported in the paper. He did however clarify that the agreement has not yet been finalised and that the project does not provide for bathing in the lake.

Days after the assembly was held, Mr. Trudel shed light on this matter by saying that any bathing in the lake or anything that would disrupt the lake will not be authorised. He pointed out that the terms of the emphyteutic lease entered into between the developer of Trinité, Golf, Spa et Sanctuaire and the Borough does not include this possibility. As reported previously, lac des Battures and the boisé Saint-Paul form part of the protected territory based on a servitude of the Minister of the Environment.

The APRIDS letter can be read in “letters to the editor’ published in this issue which raises concerns about the possibility of people being allowed to swim in the lake. But the statement made by Mayor Trudel this week will no doubt serve as an assurance to island residents and APRIDS members.
