Bell employees gradually coming in
It will still be a few weeks before the new offices of Bell Canada in the northern tip of L'Île-des-Sœurs are fully occupied. Employees should be gradually settling in during the month of September. but it looks like they’re making good progress moving in.
A brief visit to the new headquarters on Tuesday morning revealed a limited number of cars in the parking lot in the building’s basement. Just a few – about tens of cars - were seen; it was not certain whether or not they belonged to Bell employees.
This visit, however, led to the observation that the scheduled deadline for re-developing the road network was met. This writer was able to get on the new chemin de la pointe nord which passes under the highway 15 viaduct going towards this area without the need to pass by René-Lévesque Boulevard. The temporary traffic lights were working and enabled vehicles to circulate freely in the different road sections.
It is estimated that tens of employees presently occupy the new building. The new bus route that will link the shuttle service between downtown Montreal and the island’s northern tip was not yet required in the beginning of this week although it should be operational once the number of users will justify it.
Note, however, that the work schedule announced was based on the availability of premises and road infrastructure. It is therefore not a question of a delay; everything will be ready (or almost will be ready) when the need presents itself. And it seems that staff members will occupy the new Bell Canada headquarters by the end of September or by October
