Centaur prepares to entertain, inspire and even provoke
For the 10th year in a row, Centaur will be presenting the Wildside Theatre Festival. This twelve-day-long theatre festival, presented from January 9 to January 20 will feature some of the most cutting edge performances Montreal audiences will ever see and is bound to introduce some fresh new talent.
Five pieces by local, national and international companies have been selected, based on their overall ability to entertain, inspire and even provoke.
Living Shadows: A story of Mary Pickford
Kicking the festival off will be the winner of the Best of the Montreal Fringe Award, “Living Shadows, which tells the story of Canadian silent movie star, Mary Pickford. The Edmonton Star calls it a “stellar one-woman show, while CBC Winnipeg classified it as “completely engrossing.

“Living Shadows runs January 11, 13, 16 at 7 p.m., January 17 at 9 p.m. and January 20, at 3 p.m.
Misery Loves Company
Ann, Becky and Connie are three young urban women desperately looking for love, meaning and happiness in their lives. Presented by “Waking The Girl Productions, “Misery Loves Company is a timely dark comedy that exhibits the unmistakable cosmopolitan vibe of Montreal. The Montreal Gazette called it “ a truly elegant production of a demonically difficult work... a smashing cast.

“Misery Loves Company will be performed on January 10 and 19, at 7 p.m. and January 11, 13, 16 at 9 p.m.
Pentecostal Wisconsin
In this one-person, Ryan Paulson lets us in on what the religious right is really all about as he finds God, falls hard for a sexy Swedish teenager and winds up leaving his friend Jesus standing at the ticket counter at the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport. Time-Out New York exclaimed: “This categorically pitch-perfect one-man comedy has it all...

Don’t miss it!

“Pentecostal Wisconsin will be performed on January 9, 14, 20, 20 at 7 p.m. and January 12 and 18, at 9 p.m.
Sex and La Cité: Part Deux
“Sex and La Cité was a huge hit at the 2005 Montreal Fringe Festival, spawning Part Two last year. The cleverly written spoof of the HBO series “Sex and the City brings these New York ladies to Montreal, where Mr. Big and Carrie finally tie the knot, Quebecois style. The Montreal Gazette called it a “cheeky crowd pleaser. What might be of interest to Island residents, is the fact that the role of Mr. Big will be played by none other than long-time Island resident, Claude Genest, who recently stated to us that “he always dreamed of playing the Centaur.

“Sex and La Cité:Part Deux will be presented on January 12 and 18, at 7 p.m., January 9 and 20, at 9 p.m. and January 14, at 3 p.m.
