A plethora of activities for March break
Verdun borough offerings sure to please
Exploring the library, watching movies and shows, enjoying sports and activities of all kinds—all this awaits youngsters during their school break, March 4 - March 10. Just take a look at the Verdun borough's program of activities.
Themed activities and open swimming periods are scheduled at Mgr. Richard school's pool at 3000 Gaétan-Laberge Boulevard, Monday - Friday, 11 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.; Saturday, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. For more details on the activities, give us a call at 514 765-7150. Admission for Accès Verdun cardholders is $1. Without the card, the cost is $2. Six-year-olds and under, and those who don't know how to swim, must be accompanied by an adult.
Skating periods
Skating anyone? Afternoon open skating periods have been specially scheduled: March 4 - March 10, 1:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m., at Aréna Denis-Savard, 4110 LaSalle Blvd., and mornings, March 6 - March 8, 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Admission is free with the Accès Verdun card; without it, adults pay $2 and children, $1. Do you prefer hockey? Open hockey periods for 15-year-olds and under have been slated for Monday and Friday, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. As for 16-year-olds and over, they'll have their special day on Friday, March 9, noon – 1:30 p.m. Admission is free with the Accès Verdun card, and $5 without.
Gym activities
Gym activities for 6-12-year-olds will take place on Saturday, 10 a.m. – noon, and for 13-17-year-olds, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., at Notre-Dame-des-sept-Douleurs gym. On Sunday, 10 a.m. – noon, 6-12-year-olds can enjoy gym activities at École primaire de l’Île-des-Soeurs, and 13-17-year-olds, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Admission is free for Accès Verdun cardholders.
Basketball fans have not been forgotten either. Training for beginners, games and practice for 13-17-year-olds have been planned for Thursday, March 8, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., at Mgr. Richard school gym, 3000 Gaétan-Laberge Blvd.

For this School Break week, Verdun libraries will open at 9 a.m., every day, from Monday, March 5 to Friday, March 9. Extra hours to explore the treasures of our collections!
Theatre and film for youngsters
Looking for shows for young audiences? Two performances will delight you: Les charmeurs du ciel, at 2 p.m., on March 6, for 4-8-year-olds, at Centre culturel de Verdun, and Les tracas d’Oniria, at 2 p.m., on March 9, at Centre Elgar, for 4-10-year-olds. Tickets are $2 and are available at the usual locations. On March 8, at 10 a.m., at Centre culturel de Verdun, and at 2 p.m., at Centre Elgar, our talk for kids series features a workshop entitled Atelier d’initiation au théâtre d’objets. Registration is $2 and is payable on location. Please note that both plays as well as the workshop will be presented in French.
Our school break calendar of activities also features two short film programs, presented in cooperation with the NFB. On March 5, at 10 a.m., at Centre culturel de Verdun, 6-10-year-olds will enjoy Les petits conteurs. Four more short animated films will please the 6-12-year-old audience at 2 p.m., on March 5, at Centre Elgar. A recent box-office hit, Les petits pieds du bonheur, will entertain youngsters on Wednesday, March 7, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., at Centre culturel de Verdun. Free passes are available for all these movies.

On March 11, at 2 p.m., enjoy an interactive performance of traditional music, entitled Chantons et turlutons, from our Family Sundays musical series at Centre culturel de Verdun. Tickets: $4 (adults) and $2 (children).
