$5,000 for the Make A Wish Foundation
Before climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for the Make A Wish Foundation, Island resident Geraldine Courchesne had the formidable task of having to raise a minimum of $6,000 for the cause.
One of her friends, Yolande Gagnon, organized a raffle to help raise the necessary funds. The fabulous prizes included a week for two at Eastman Spa, a week for two at Spa Le Flores in Grand-mère and a painting by artist Berthe Crête, worth $800. The total worth of the prizes was $2,800. The raffle took place on March 21, at the Make A Wish Foundation offices, in Montreal West.
More than $5,000 was raised and a huge number of Island residents purchased tickets, in the hopes of winning one of these valuable prizes.
The winner of the raffle was Annik Corbeil of Blainville.
