Celebrate Earth Day with a guided tour of the Island's forest
Great way to discover the beauty in your own backyard
Sunday, April 22 is a day dedicated to this wondrous planet of ours. More than 6 million Canadians join 500 million people in over 180 countries in staging events and projects to address local environmental issues.
On L'Ile-des-Soeurs, there will be a guided tour of our area's most prized possession: the Boisé Saint-Paul. Serge Bellemare, a Green Party candidate for the Marguerite-Bourgeoys riding, and an Island resident, will share the Green Party's views on natural heritage protection, while Lise Couture, founder of Club Marchons (a local walking club), will take you on a power walk.
Sunday, April 22, at 10 a.m.
Those interested in participating, should simply grab their boots (the trails can be muddy this time of year) and some binoculars (excellent for bird-watching) and show up at the École primaire Ile-des-Sœurs (530 de Gaspé), on Sunday, April 22, at 10 a.m. The walk will be about an hour long, so feel free to bring the kids.
Nina Gould, president of the Comité pour la protection du patrimoine- IDS, hopes that everyone will come out.
