Woman has gun pointed at her
On Easter Sunday, April 8, an Island resident had a gun pointed at her while she was walking home.
At around 11:15 p.m., the Island resident was returning home from a friend's house when she stopped to get some milk at the Couche Tard near the Campanile shopping centre. On her way home through the path, to René-Levesque and onto Place du Soleil Street, she was surprised by a man who came up behind her, brandishing a gun and asking for her cash.
"I was in shock and simply told him he was crazy and ran all the way home," reveals the Island resident. "I heard a gunshot, so the man must have shot at me, at some point," she adds.
Since it was dark and everything happened so fast, the woman was not able to provide police with a clear description, but she does remember that he spoke English, had dark hair and wore a dark coat. When she got home, she called the police.
"The police responded immediately. Three cars came, along with an ambulance, but there was no need for me to go to the hospital," says the Island resident.
Vigilance required by all Island residents
The main reason the Island resident contacted Le Magazine was to warn other residents, especially women, not to take unnecessary risks at night, because, as safe as the Island is, there is always a chance that something might happen.
The Island resident also raised the issue of more lights being installed in that area, making it safer to walk home.
The police were unavailable for comment.
